US: headline CPI increased 0.2% m-o-m in February

"The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.2 percent in February on a seasonally adjusted basis after rising 0.5 percent in January," the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this Tuesday.

Key highlights:

   •  Over the last 12 months, the all items index rose 2.2 percent before seasonal adjustment.
   •  The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.2 percent in February following a 0.3-percent increase in January.
   •  The all items index rose 2.2 percent for the 12 months ending February, a slightly larger increase than the 2.1-percent rise for the 12 months ending January. 
   •  The index for all items less food and energy rose 1.8 percent over the past year, while the energy index increased 7.7 percent and the food index advanced 1.4 percent.
